Missing: Monday

March 10th, 2009 . by Cary

Huh – what happened to Monday? It was right here, and then – poof! – it was gone.

Probably didn’t help that I spent most of it applying for jobs and looking for more leads. Oh, and C and M were in town, so we had dinner with them.

(don’t tell anyone yet, but C is pregnant and is expecting about September 15 or so)

In other news – I am concerned about the direction the President is taking the country. Down is never good, unless you are wearing a parachute, and I don’t feel the tightness associated with the legs straps. However, I do know that no matter what happens, the sun will rise tomorrow, God is on His throne, and I know how the big picture story turns out. It won’t be pretty, but I look forward to the victory party.

Red Friday

Soooo – how’s this whole “Hope” and “Change” thing working out for ya? So far, the only thing that has changed is who is writing in the most earmarks, and the only hope I can see is for either a huge secessionist movement or outright revolution. (another view at BZ‘s place)

In the mean time, I have a loving wife, a sweet daughter, wonderful friends (both in person and on the ‘net) and the Love and Grace of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Life is grand.

The Last Call

March 5th, 2009 . by Cary

ring ring ring RING RING RIIIINNNNNGGGGG

Hello, MSM?

Yeah, it’s me, the American public. Sorry to wake you up, but it’s kind of important. I know you told me everything would be OK once TEH ONE was elected, but it’s really not looking good from where I live. And all the scare articles about global warming? Doesn’t help that you only report one side of the story. Whatever happened to you, MSM? I used to be able to trust you to tell me the whole story. I used to enjoy snapping open a fresh copy of the paper, or turning on the news. Now, I would rather scope out the sources on the internet and come to my own conclusions – since you aren’t telling me everything. You really need to get off of whatever you’ve been snorting, man – everyone is talking about how you can’t even do your job anymore. They’re saying you are going to be dropped, and instead of finding someone else to do your job, the customers are going to do it for themselves. Truthfully, you have really been pushing the limits of my generosity. I mean, the only reason I still have a paper delivered is because I like to hold it my hands, and be able to go back and re-read something at my leisure. I like to scan the headlines, and then go in-depth on the articles that I think might not be slanted to the left. Sure, I skip right over anything with “Obama” in the headline, but only because YOU keep lying to me about what he said compared to what he’s doing now.

Really, MSM, I just wanted to call and say that while it’s been fun, I just can’t invest any more of my emotional bankroll in you. I’m breaking it off. But trust me – it’s not me, it’s you. Sorry, dude, you broke a trust that you had spent years building up, and now look at your place. Campaign posters all over the walls and floor, and the election was months ago, dude. That party is so over, you should clean your place up. Nobody likes to come over anymore because of the mess.

Anyway, I hope you can get your life back together. I’m not saying I’ll come running back to you if you DO get your act cleaned up, but I may be willing to look in on you now and again if I see that things improve.

Goodbye, MSM. Good luck.

An Open Letter

March 4th, 2009 . by Cary

Got this in an e-mail from Jim Baxter. There’s more than a grain of truth in this:

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950’s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way. Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We’ll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s and rednecks. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.

We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U. N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We’ll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We’ll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute Imagine, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We’ll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we’ll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J. Wall, Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand & Jane Fonda with you.

I am, quite frankly, tired of hearing how “bad” we Americans are for the earth. China is the leading producer of so-called “greenhouse emissions” and yet the US is the one being told to comply to a treaty we didn’t ratify. All the Euro-weenie countries who DID ratify Kyoto sure talked a good game – and it looks like only four of the however many might actually come close to their Kyoto goals. All talk, no action. And the US is the bad guy?

Get bent, world. Your opinion does not run this country, no matter what Obama and the Clintons may tell you.

Whoops

March 2nd, 2009 . by Cary

Missed a few days there – sorry about that. I got a small remodel job, and I’ve been trying to squeeze in time to work on that in between job hunting and chasing after a certain 2 year old.

Oh, and my nephew (the son of LeaAnn) got married this weekend. It was good to see the family in the area. I was doing OK until I saw my other sister wearing the outfit that LeaAnn was supposed to wear at Sean’s wedding. I gathered myself back up, went and hugged necks of my two brothers and their families that were in attendance, and then caught myself scanning the crowd for LeaAnn.

Nah, that’s not why I put my shades back on. It’s because the wedding was outside on a golf course on a sunny day that I put my shades back on.

No, really.
