Daily Quotes 5/11/22

May 11th, 2022 . by Cary

“Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck.” —Thomas Jefferson (1822)

Cultural Appropriations

Saw this in the Woodpile Report of June 20, 2017 – credited to Taki’s Magazine:

“We would love to cut a deal with the noble indigenous peoples across the Earth — you can have your Navajo panties and aboriginal dot paintings and every last freaking burrito on the planet so long as you give us back our computers and cell phones and cars and indoor plumbing and electricity and air conditioners. Enough

February 15th, 2017 . by Cary

A few days ago, I asked for prayers for a decision to be made, for God’s leading.

Lead me he did.

I leave you with this prayer:

I pray that you have enough:
– of The Son to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the days may appear
– rain to help you appreciate The Son even more
– happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting
– pain so that even the smallest of joys in your life may appear bigger
– gain to satisfy your needs
– loss to appreciate all that you are blessed with
– hellos to get through the final good bye.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat

February 15th, 2017 . by Cary

Up to 1774: this country faced a dependency on government largess for almost every need. The liberties of the people residing in this land were restricted and the government operated outside the rule of law, protecting and rewarding those who bought or coerced the rulers into satisfying their demands. The rulers acted as though they cared about the people, but in reality were out of touch with the day-to-day needs and actions of the general population, relying on their well-placed and well-to-do friends for information on what the people were actually doing.

1776: Independence was declared, constitutional government through a representative republic formed, freedom fought for and won from the ruling elites.

2016: this country faced a dependency on government largess for almost every need. The liberties enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights and all the Amendments were being restricted and the government was operating outside the rule of law, protecting and rewarding those who bought or coerced the rulers into satisfying their demands. The rulers acted as though they cared about the people, but in reality were out of touch with the day-to-day needs and actions of the general population, relying on their well-placed and well-to-do friends for information on what the people were actually doing.
