Wait! Where's the pictures? They're supposed to be right here! I swear, you can't find decent help these days...

Whew!

Man, I’m glad that’s out of my system!

I owe an apology to Gawfer for cutting our chat short last night on Facebook – but, when the system says run, you better.

Boss Lady has a cool project in the works – as many of you are painfully aware, Borders is shutting many stores. The one nearby Kidstop is one of them, and they are at the point where their fixtures are on sale. Boss Lady and her business partner wrangled a deal for a string of bookcases and a library ladder for the Education Room – so yours truly will be taking out and repurposing the existing shelving on two walls, and then installing the Borders units. It’s gonne look real nice – be sure to come in and see it when it’s finished!

What – you thought I would stay home yesterday with so much to do? Nope – made it to court, made it to work, then got sent home when I kept turning green and having to sit down. Nice nap yesterday afternoon, though.

Chat ya later…

Ugh

Monday morning. Stomach is upset. I had planned on going to court with Pastor, since the City has extra money and wants to continue to apply commercial codes to a private residence. I’m not due at work until noon. I have a cup of Thera-Flu in front of me, yesterday’s meals came out the wrong way already, and with the back door wide open and 61 beautiful degrees of breeze wafting in I’m sitting here sweating like a pig.

I think I’m sick.

Really?

Really? I mean, really?

This is a shot of the remote reader for the backyard thermometer. Top figure is outside, second down is inside. Then the time (Mountain Standard Time), last line is the date and day. Took the shot with my camera phone, not too bad of quality for a snapshot. Here it is March, other parts of the country are getting snow fer cryin’ out loud, and I’m sitting here waiting for the sun to go down so I can work in my garage.

Sheesh.

On a side note – today marks what would have been Dad’s 83rd birthday. He passed away in 1992, at the tender age of 64, on the morning of Mom and Dad’s 42nd wedding anniversary. I still miss you, Pop. I always will.

Two Fer Tuesday

March 29th, 2011 . by Cary

First – and most important – tomorrow, March 30, is Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Find one. Welcome him or her home. Mean it. In 1973, on this date, was the official withdrawal of all troops from Vietnam. The welcome they got then was tainted by the very vocal protesters who jeered, booed, spat upon and denigrated these heroes. These men and women placed their lives on the line, and that was the welcome they got. (i had a cousin who, until the day he died, stayed holed up in his room because of the ‘welcome’ he got.) Tomorrow, by and Act of Congress, it is officially Wlecome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.

Find one. Or two. Thank them.

Profusely.

And mean it. They deserve that much.

Second – from the mailbag, put as much thought into this as you wish. It was attributed anonymously to an anonymous source in the Czech Republic.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

In this case, I think that we have gotten the government we deserve. Let’s raise our standards a bit next time around, shall we?

Friday, right? So, you are wearing red to support your troops, right? Seems a Facebook group has cropped up to spread the word also … I’ve been doing this for how long now? Well, better late than never!
