Simple Solution

February 13th, 2007 . by Cary

This article in the Arizona Republic highlights the issues faced by a certain group of laborers in the Phoenix area.

This Certain Group of Laborers is in the country without benefit of legal paperwork.

They are being “forced” to work in dangerous condition with less-than-optimal safety equipment and/or training.

I have a very simple solution.

Don’t come here illegally. Then, the companies will be forced to actually hire legal citizens, who are willing to work these jobs, and who already know how to be safe on the job.

In the story, there is mention of one worker who was making $13.00 an hour as a roofer. I was making that in the eighties, in Flagstaff, as a roofer.

Tell me again how illegal immigrants don’t affect the overall wage structure of an area?

Non-Politically Correct Joke

February 13th, 2007 . by Cary

You have been warned. By the way, if I become President, this type of joke will become the norm, not hidden away in the closet. There are different version of this one running around; I happen to like this one.

A big THANK YOU to my wife’s cousin, who just sent this to me.

The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska for some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope mobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a “Save the Whales” hat, and a “To Hell with Bush” T-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10 foot grizzly. As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing up. One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear’s chest… The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious Democrat from the bear’s grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and two of them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.

As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. “I give you my blessing for your brave actions!” he told them “I heard there was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic Environmental activists but now I’ve seen
with my own eyes that this is not true.”

As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies “Who was that guy?”

“It was the Pope,” another replied. “He’s in direct contact with heaven and has access to all wisdom.”

“Well,” the logger said, “he may have access to all wisdom but he sure doesn’t know
anything about bear hunting! By the way, is the bait holding up, or do we need to go back to Massachusetts and snatch another one?”

Going From Bad To Worse

February 11th, 2007 . by Cary

This isn’t bad enough (from an e-mail from grassfire.org):

Imprisoned Border Agent Ignacio Ramos was assaulted and beaten in prison Saturday night following the airing of America’s Most Wanted, Ramos family members confirmed to Grassfire.org yesterday afternoon.

Agent Ramos told his wife, Monica, that he was kicked multiple times by up to five men with steel-toe boots, shouting profanities in Spanish and saying “Kill the Border Agent.” The family reported to us that he had extensive injuries, was bleeding from the ear and may not have received medical attention for up to 48 hours.

The story was first posted on Grassfire’s new FireSociety community. Go here for details, including my interview last night on L.A.’s flagship ABC radio station with Al Rantel.

Now, we have this (also from grassfire.org):

While Ron De Jong and I were presenting 304,000 citizen petitions to Rep. Rohrabacher on Capitol Hill, we were shocked when the Congressman informed us that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had admitted to members of Congress…

…that they had lied to Congress about the case against imprisoned agents Ramos and Compean.

Under questioning by Rep. Culberson, a DHS investigator admitted that his department did NOT have evidence to back up a number of outrageous claims including:

* Mexican/American agents Ramos and Compean “wanted to shoot a Mexican”;
* confessed to shooting an unarmed suspect;
* were belligerent to investigators;
* lied and submitted false reports;
* and stated during the investigation that the illegal alien did not pose a threat.

In addition, the DHS admitted that it began its prosecution
BEFORE completing their investigation!

So, first we have a case that should not have been in court – should, in fact, have been handled internally due to the agents not following procedures (imagine if YOU could be taken to federal court for not following procedures in YOUR job…). Second, the agents are held in GENERAL POPULATION with the very same people they were hired to keep out of the US in the first place. Third, the Department of Homeland Security (motto: we don’t want to offend anyone but our own) MAKES UP CHARGES that it then levels against agents of the Border Patrol.

Oh, yeah. We’re in good hands.

Friday Is Wear Red Day

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Go here. Buy a shirt, wear it on Fridays, and declare your support for the troops.

Fix4RSO has a nifty little article on a “reporter” at the San Francisco Chronicle who has never served in the US Military or, it would appear, has heard of reasoned thinking. Check it out, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the read. I was a little short in the comments, but I am just so amazed at the very low level of understanding and comprehension exhibited by the majority of the media that it boggles my mind. My advice to the media is: If in doubt, ask someone who has served. Or, at least leave such “hard hitting” and “in-depth” reporting to someone who knows how to use the internet to research topics.
