Tuesday Update – one week later

October 30th, 2007 . by Cary

My, how time flies.

Last week, one thing lead to another. Most of you have probably noticed that I don’t visit or comment or read my mail on Wednesdays, since that is the day TMBWitW works from home. MEG and I occupy ourselves in another part of the house, and leave TMBWitW to her work; working from home is a privilege and we certainly don’t want to lose it… Well, that means that I don’t have access on Wednesdays. Wednesday was spent chasing down a set of keys for the house I am sprucing up, so that I could get my tools gathered together and re-consolidated. Wednesday evening I made a trash run for all the material that had been removed during the sprucing – old carpeting, padding, baseboards, etc. Thursday afternoon the keys were obtained, the tools were gathered, the tool trailer was emptied at my house, and the trailer itself was taken back over to a friends house, since the HOA does not allow me to leave my trailer in the community. Friday morning (at 1:26 am, but who’s tracking?) marked the onset of MEG’s stomach flu. She was throwing up every hour or so for most of the night; we were both up with her, trying to comfort her and keep her calm – nothing like a ten-month old getting hysterical in the middle of the night. TMBWitW was somehow able to go to work on Friday; God bless her for her strength. MEG saw the doctor’s office at noon, and we got the news – a stomach bug. Advice was given, and we headed home. Saturday dawned with MEG having another restless night. TMBWitW and MEG stayed home, sleeping as they could, I attended the Truth Project session for that week. Afterward, I headed over to the project house and picked up the owner’s son and we went to the Palace of the Orange Aprons to purchase supplies.

Supplies is right. Guess who started getting nauseous and dizzy while at the Palace of the Orange Aprons? We got the trailer full of supplies back to the project house and parked in the backyard; I headed home. As I pulled into the driveway, I needed to jump out for a moment to move some items in the garage. When I headed back to the driver’s side, my breakfast decided to fertilize the little tree in front of the house. I am so glad it was a quite day. The echoes of the retching bounced off the neighboring houses, drawing the attention of a stray cat. Luckily, no neighbors were out and about.

When I got in the house, I found out that everyone had been doing the same all day long. We spent the rest of Saturday and all day Sunday in bed or racing to the bathroom.

Not fun.

Yesterday, I helped my chiropractor move his office. He adjusted me afterwards, but the muscles in my lower back are now screaming for my head on a platter. I’ll be working on reconfiguring some of his old cabinets today; they will be going into the restroom in the new office.

I’ve trimmed the blogroll a bit – and added One Loon’s Tales. Please give the Loon a visit; we need to support our northern friend as much as the Loon supports us!

So – how was your week?

Tuesday Update

October 23rd, 2007 . by Cary

So – I’m just a normal citizen again.

Well, a citizen, anyway.

The remodel project I’ve been working on is at a point where the rest of the scope needs to be determined before I can continue, since how I proceed will be determined by what the next phase’s objectives are.

I am starting to get more interest in my business. My chiropractor is moving into a new office, so in exchange for treatments I am doing some updating and reconfiguring of his fixtures from the old office. All around, some money-saving moves.

If you, dear reader, are interested in obtaining my business card, drop me an e-mail. I’ll drop a card in the mail, just for you. Along with a personal thank you note, of course.

I may be traveling to Florida in January in connection with my genealogy blog, in order to pick up the files that my grandfather had compiled over the years. Currently, the plan is to fly there, rent a car, load up the files, and drive back. If you, my dear readers, happen to live along the interstate corridor between Tampa Bay and Phoenix, and would like to be a part of a “places I’ve visited, people I’ve met” type of series on this blog, drop me a line.

Here’s hoping the rest of the week is a joyful blessing, and that God shines his face on you.*

* – please note that this blessing and well wishing, while entirely in keeping with the author’s faith, in no way should be taken as an order or a command. the author does not wish you to be insulted, unless you, the reader, wish to be indignant and, quite honestly, would not be happy unless you were feeling put upon or insulted, in which case, grow up and figure out that the world does not revolve around you.

Notice Something New?

October 18th, 2007 . by Cary

After letting it stew for sometime now, I have decided that I shouldn’t waste my time or your vote.

I am not a fund raiser, which seems to be the most prominent feature people want in a leader.

All I could offer was common sense and accountability for actions.

Both of which appear to be in record low-demand.

I wish to thank everyone for pointing people to my blog, and helping get the word out.

With the exception of one person in the midwest, I do not have enough people helping me to get my name on the ballot of states that do not allow write-in candidates. Without my name on the ballots, there are not enough states that allow write-in candidates to get elected that way.

May God have mercy on this country, and the souls of those who wish to turn it into North Mexico or West ShariaLand.

As for the rest of us, fight the good fight. Stand tall, and be counted loudly. Do not vote for an incumbent ever again. Run the bums out, and let real Americans run the country.

UPDATE: 11:15am

I almost forgot.

Doug Gibbs, thank you for having me on Political Pistachio so often. And Jenn of the Jungle (with dtodeen), thank YOU for being the first one to interview me as a candidate.

Thank you for stopping by, God bless you all, Wear Red on Fridays, and support Warriors for Innocence!

Fun and Games

October 11th, 2007 . by Cary

Yesterday (Wednesday) was possibly the third most fun day in my life.

The first most fun ever had was when a Naval Dental Surgeon, three sheets to the wind, managed to break an unbreakable needle off in the roof of my mouth during a cavity expedition. The only thing that kept me out of the brig after slugging him was his blood test, which came back at .13 BAC.

The second most fun was the day I got my upper plate. Twilight sleep, my butt. They put me completely under, yanked what was left of my upper teeth, and mis-placed a temporary denture. My gums healed funny, not all of the parts of my teeth were removed, and they forgot to mention that “temporary” meant I needed to revisit them in six months to have a permanent appliance installed. (I finally had a permanent plate made, about three years ago, after a couple more sessions with an oral surgeon to fix what the temporary plate screwed up. I’m fine now, thanks for asking.)

Yesterday I had a crown installed. For whatever reason, I’m still jumpy with needles in my mouth. The added bonus of still feeling everything once the drilling started was special. I mentioned it to my dentist, and she added more anesthetic. As it turns out, my body like the anesthetic and processes it very quickly. No, the teeth don’t numb – just the jaw and tongue. So, the drilling went on with several breaks for me to gather in my “mind over matter” abilities, until another batch of nerves was hit. Yesterday afternoon, I felt as if I had gone five rounds with Ali – my jaw just plain hurt. However, the temporary crown is in place, and the permanent one is scheduled.

My permanent plate and this crown were done by what have to be the best dentists in the world. Dr. Ed Babits (denture) and Dr. Karen Hilsabeck (crown) practice in Phoenix, and TMBWitW has been seeing Dr. Babits since forever ago. So, once we got married, I started seeing them. My mouth has been in the best shape ever since then.

Just thought I’d share with you all.

Thank you for stopping by, God bless you all, Wear Red on Fridays, support Warriors for Innocence, and write in Cary Cartter for President in 2008!

My friend, TexasFred, has established a completely non-tracking, anonymous polling blog. (Link here: TexasFred’s Non-Scientific Polling Place)

According to Fred, this is “a place where reasonable and intelligent questions can be asked by ALL and responded to by all as well…”

Fred has set this site up without any tracking capabilities to protect the intellectual freedom of open discussion, so if you have a question, or would like to engage in the serious discussion of questions and answers, head on over there.

Thank you for stopping by and God bless you all.
