(apologies to those of you who are not fans of “Madagascar” – I’ve heard that line way too many times recently)

Good show this morning at The O Word. At least, I think it was a good show. Go give it a listen and let me know what you think…

I had mentioned a while ago about getting the Hope Chest (the Project That Will Not Leave) to the point where the customer’s color choice is needed. Here are the pictures – first, a series of close-ups showing the detail of the front panel (remember that there is no color on the walnut, and walnut varies from bone white to a dark ash color), click to enlarge:

This one shows the new drawer I had to build, and the veneer laid out to put on the front of the bottom rail and drawer front:

And, finally, a view of the full face:

Controversial Friday

Today on The O Word on BlogTalkRadio, I was talking about the issue between Crossroads United Method Church and the City of Phoenix. During that segment, I mentioned the fact that I had an issue with the Pastor of Crossroads being a female, since the Bible specifically speaks against women in leadership positions. Prying1, who called in, disagreed. What say YOU? let me know in the comments.

Hi There!

October 21st, 2009 . by Cary

Yes, I’ve been MIA. I have been working part time at the deli, and when I’m not doing that I am spending time with my wife. Sorry, readers, you come after my wife in the scheme of things. The blog places a distant fifth or sixth.

I have FINALLY gotten to a point on the hope chest where I need to know what color the customer wants before I can proceed. Of course, I’ve been taking pictures, and naturally, I can’t find the camera right now to download them and post them for all to enjoy. Maybe tomorrow. Or Friday. Whenever, you know?

Tonight’s lesson was started in the first two chapters of Proverbs, covering what the wise people should do. You know, like not fall in with the wrong crowd and such.

I promise a more fulfilling post later. Remember to tune in Friday morning at 0700 Mountain Standard Time for The O Word.

Red Friday

Are you wearing red to show your support of OUR troops? Thank you!

Cut the show short this morning – kind of weird, no one on the line, no one in the chatroom. So, I talked until I was tired of hearing my voice. Listen in archive at The O Word or just wait for the player to load here in the sidebar.

I’m off – gotta get started on the day – it seems the cats had a contest yesterday to see who could thow up the most in the least amount of time. Guess what I get to clean up first?

(update to add) Hey, Mayor Ward! I still remember you, and I’m waiting for an answer to my question!

Quick Update

October 15th, 2009 . by Cary

So – my “day off” was anything but. Got to working on the Hope Chest project and forgot my chiropractor appointment. Dr. P is very accomodating, however, and I managed to fit in during a lull in his schedule. Spent most of yesterday re-doing the weave on the front of the chest – the difference between the old and the new is mostly just how the wood looks; I think I managed to copy the style pretty well:

Old Weave

New Weave

I’ve also matched the facing angles of the front piece, and need to piece that together before I can start assembling the front. Then, the only thing left is coloring the lighter pieces of walnut and the final coats. I’ll be meeting with the owner on the next few days to go over that decision…

DOn’t forget to tune in Friday morning at 0700 Mountain Standard Time for The O Word -I’m going to touch on the latest Healthcare garbage and the proliferation of RINOs in Congress. Don’t miss it!
