Just Say NO To Obummercare

August 13th, 2009 . by Cary

First, a link, in case you think I’m making this stuff up as I go along: H.R. 3200, also known as ‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009″

I know I’m going to have to report myself for this one to flag@whitehouse.gov!

(please note: reporting myself will be accompanied by the forwarding of quite a bit of the spam I get. this idea is courtesy of educated shoprat‘s comment on Jo-Joe‘s post)

And now, the latest reason I think Obummercare is full of socialist agenda-driven idea and plans: Government Mandated Child Raising and Welfare Visits.

(source: ppg 838 through 851)

So – did you think that the Obummercare was only about Health care? Do you know what this section (1904) talks about? Go ahead, follow the link above and go to the pages indicated. I’ll step out and mow the lawn, rake the leaves, and smooth the gravel while you read it.

OK – what was the first thing you read? That’s right, it’s not even a part of the health care bill – it’s an amendment to “Part B of Title IV of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 621–629i)”. (in case you think this is an anomaly, check out section 1905 on page 851 – it’s an amendment to “Title XI of the Social Security Act” and inserts “after section 1150 the following new section”.) This amendment to Title IV is titled as “SEC. 440. HOME VISITATION PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN AND FAMILIES EXPECTING CHILDREN.” The amendment establishes “high quality programs providing voluntary home visitation for families with young children and families expecting children.” Part of what this program does is set up home visitations for a government agency to come in and tell families how to raise their children and what to expect developmentally from their children at particular milestones. (I won’t go into whose milestones, or what happens if the child does not meet those milestones – junior Death Panel, anyone?)

This is where my objection comes in (I mean besides to the whole bill): The GOVERNMENT is going to impose THEIR IDEALS on how I should raise my child. What happens if my religious beliefs conflict with the government’s ideals? One area I know we are going to clash is the spanking issue – you know that the liberals are going to insist that talking to and reasoning with a two year old is more effective than spanking. I believe that by sparing the rod I am spoiling the child. With parental supervision, the child shouldn’t be getting into that many issues where spanking is needed, but when they do, then a swift paddle on the rear will get their attention quicker than the sound of your voice. That swift paddle also lets them know there are consequences to their actions and holds them accountable for their actions.

I can hear you now – “How much will this cost?” Im glad you asked, and they cover that, too:

‘‘(m) APPROPRIATIONS.—Out of any money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriated, there is appropriated to the Secretary to carry out this section—
‘‘(1) $50,000,000 for fiscal year 2010;
‘‘(2) $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2011;
‘‘(3) $150,000,000 for fiscal year 2012;
‘‘(4) $200,000,000 for fiscal year 2013; and
‘‘(5) $250,000,000 for fiscal year 2014.

Let me get my calculator out real quick here… carry the 1, uhm, $750,000,000. Seven hundred fifty million dollars in five years. For something that’s not even part of the health care bill but is an amendment to another Act entirely. The Social Security Act at that, which is already projected to be broke soon, and now Obama wants to saddle it with more debt?

Next stop – flag@whitehouse.gov.

Tuesday Rambling

August 11th, 2009 . by Cary

I don’t think I’ll write anything worth reporting myself about today.

Well, that’s all I’ve got today…

Just kidding! I can’t believe you fell for that.

The backlash against the heavy-handed “reform” of the national health care system continues. Here in Arizona, more than a few of the DemocRATic so-called “representatives” have either had their town halls inundated by We The People with a Single Voice or they have been cancelled due to the large numbers of opposing voices. Methinks they may be finally getting the message – that we don’t want the reform as outlined by Obama and his minions. We want the free market to continue taking care of itself.

Actually, come to think of it, we’d like the government to get out of the auto business, the banking business, and the money printing business too. But, hey – one thing at a time, right?

Well, dang – even this short little entry is flag worthy. I’ll be on e-mail telling on myself. Hope you have a really good day.

P.S. – just saw this “Thought Of The day” n the Arizona Republic: “A pessimist is a mna who looks both ways when he’s crossing a one-way street.” – Laurence J. Peter, author of “The Peter Principle” (1919-1990). Obviously, Mr. Peter never walked in down town Phoenix or he, too, would have classified himself as a pessimist! I always check both ways before crossing a one way street, and I have ever since a wrong-way driver nearly hit me a few years back. In this instance, I am proud to be labeled a “pessimist.”

P.P.S. Here’s the text of the note I sent today:

subject Snitchin’ On Myself Again

Dear White House,

Once again, I am informing on myself. I believe that the national health care bill known as H.R. 3200: America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 is entirely in violation of my rights under the United States Constitution. I have publicly expressed this view in multiple public forums, most recently on my blog, located here.

However, if you could direct me to the Article or Amendment in the Constitution of the United States that provides the Federal government the authority to mandate health care choices for the citizens of this country, I will certainly reconsider my position and offer public apologies.

Otherwise, I must warn you that this individual (myself) will continue to speak out against the what I believe is the true intent of this in this proposed legislation.

Thank you for your time – and go Flag yourself.

Do Your Patriotic Duty

August 10th, 2009 . by Cary

Protest – it’s what REAL patriots do. At least, that’s what the left told anyone who would listen from 2000 to 2008.

Step One: Find a “Townhall Meeting” that hasn’t been cancelled. Step Two: take your TEA Party Signs and make your congress critters very, very uncomfortable.

Oh, and be sure to report yourself – for two reasons. One, make sure they know who they are dealing with – the American Public, aka We The People, aka Their Bosses. And number two, as pointed out by Bloviating Zeppilin, every time someone submits a report, the White House finds itself in a quandary. The White House cannot collect and store information on people who disagree, and the White House is required to keep any and all communications it receives. Yes, that means that by reporting yourself to flag@whitehouse.org, you are allowing them to gather information on someone who disagrees with them and forcing them to keep the correspondence.

Next week, we will review the “Law of Unintended Consequences”. Should be fun. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go flag myself.

Keep your powder dry and your gas tank at least half full.

Finding Friends

August 7th, 2009 . by Cary

I enjoy finding friends on Facebook. Today I found the trainer that has helped us with so many of our dogs.

Of course, that also meant that I had to share Logan’s Requiem with her, since we hadn’t spoken since before I had to write that.

Naturally, I’m sitting here thinking about Logan and not really giving a tinker’s dam about anything else right now.
