Wanted: Paying Position

Really, I’m a pretty good guy. I’m married, we have a daughter, and I would much rather be supporting my family than keeping the home fires burning. I would prefer to let my wife do the fire tending and child raising. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with MEG, but my wife really deserves to be spending this time with her.

My qualifications are simple: I will work as hard as I know how to get the job accomplished. I’ve got a lot of life experiences; chances are I”ve done something in my past that has equipped me to deal with whatever task you have at hand. Except, maybe, welding – I never could get the hang of that. Mechanical work? Give me a wrench and a rag, I’m a happy guy. Woodworking? Please – lob a softball into my wheelhouse, why don’t ya? Sales? I suck, but I’ll still try to sell whatever you have that needs to be sold. Consulting? Hey, I’m a blogger – I would be more than happy to share my opinion with you about what you are trying to do. I even have the critical thinking skills needed to make sense of what you are doing before I give you an opinion about what to change or tweak – unlike a certain Poseur In Chief.

So – hire me already. Unless you like training new people every few weeks. See, I would be around for the long haul – I’ve got another fifteen, twenty years in this tank yet, and possibly longer – and plan to work as long as necessary in order to make sure my daughter gets the education and start in life that she will need to succeed.

Looks like the US will have to take it’s cue from a smaller country in regards to this whole “anthropogenic global warming” issue – Australia’s Senate is on the verge of rejecting that country’s version of the cap-and-trade system (they call it a “Scheme” – quite appropriately, I think) and most of the hesitation is due to a book that is out in Australia now and due out in the States in July. I owe a big thanks to the StarrettWire service (click to join!) for bringing this articleto my attention.

On another note – today marks the one hundred and thirty-third anniversary of the defeat of Custer at Little Big Horn, also known as the Great Northern Plains Live Target Practice of 1876.

So, Where Ya Been?

No, I didn’t really get abducted by aliens for my sexiness and good looks.

I have, however, been dealing with slight depression (still no prospects for a full-time J O B) and today I have the additional duty of taking Bradley back to Friends 4 Life.

Who is Bradley, you ask? He’s a very sweet, almost two year old retriever mix that gets along great with everybody, and really loves cats – especially with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.

That part about liking cats? Yeah – that’s the problem. Since we have five, it’s not fair to them to keep them cooped up in their room when they are accustomed to having free reign of the entire house. Cat training Bradley is beyond our means right now. We had started to kennel train him, but he is already housebroken and what was thought to be separation anxiety is more likely confinement anxiety. We know this because he chewed up the plastic tray liner that came with the kennel, folded the aluminum replacement tray like a piece of paper, and then chewed the bottom panel of the kennel apart to get out. Yes, he “tunneled” out of the crate. It was a good sturdy wire one, too – it managed to keep Sara contained as long as we were training her, and she’s no lightweight.

So, long story longer, Bradley is going back to the wonderful folks at Friends 4 Life so he can get an even better home next time around.

TMBWitW is really torn up about this – she managed to get very, very attached to this boy very quickly. I think she still misses Logan more than I imagined. Don’t get me wrong – I still miss Logan terribly, and have even called Bradley “Logan” a few times – but I am a Marine, and Marines don’t show emotion unless the Flag is involved.

We are going to go back to the plan of loving the furkids we have and keeping the numbers at about half of what they are now, eventually.

Well, it’s almost time to get loaded up. I’ll let you know how well it goes.

UPDATE: pretty darn smoothly. Bradley was just happy to be going for a car ride, and when he got to the shelter he jumped right out and figured Erika knew where he belonged. I’m gonna miss him.

These flags are simply gorgeous, they measure 24″ x 38″ and have lanyard rings. They are very well constructed and I was totally impressed when I saw the finished product.

I think that for maximum impact, though, we should skip the TEA Parties and go straight to the revolution. Yes, I am encouraging a peaceful reclaiming of our country from those in the major political parties who are pretending we don’t know what they are trying to do. And, hey, if peaceful doesn’t get the message across, well, then …

Thursday Funny

Alien Warning

Aliens are coming to Earth on FRIDAY and abducting all the good looking and sexy people.

Just wanted to givve you a heads up on why my blog will be inactive…

Second, a blonde joke from a fellow Deacon:

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.”

Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The blonde says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”

He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then -” he said with a deep sigh,

“- let’s put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.”

I missed posting this on June 6, 2009, due to cab driving. Please forgive my laziness.

Note two things – while the President knew what was going on, the Media did not publish it because of the need for secrecy. And second, this is not a muslim prayer – it is the prayer of a Christian leader of a Christian Nation to the Christian GOD. So much for “not a Christian nation.”

Lifted in it’s entirety from The History Place:

“This is the prayer originally entitled “Let Our Hearts Be Stout” written by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as Allied troops were invading German-occupied Europe during World War II. The prayer was read to the nation on radio on the evening of D-Day, June 6, 1944, while American, British and Canadian troops were fighting to establish beach heads on the coast of Normandy in France.

“The previous night, June 5, the President had also been on the radio to announce that Allied troops had entered Rome. The spectacular news that Rome had been liberated was quickly surpassed by news of the gigantic D-Day invasion which began at 6:30 a.m. on June 6. By midnight about 57,000 American and 75,000 British and Canadian soldiers had gotten ashore. Allied losses on D-Day included 2,500 killed and 8,500 wounded.”

My Fellow Americans:

Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our Allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.

And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.

They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest — until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men’s souls will be shaken with the violences of war.

For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. Many people have urged that I call the nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.

Give us strength, too — strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.

And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.

And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee; faith in our sons; faith in each other; faith in our united crusade. Let not the keeness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment — let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogances. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace — a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Thy will be done, Almighty God.
