Housekeeping

Sometimes, in the world of meetings, trainings, and orientations, there are times when the newer people need to learn a few things from the old hands. Here on this blog, if you wish to register as a subscriber, I ask that you click on the tab in the header that says “Subscribers” and read through and follow the instructions listed there. As long as the new subscribers try to flatter me with “adding me to (their) bookmarks” and leaving a URL that spells out which drugs you are trying to spam over the ‘net, then you are not going to be a subscriber for long.

Monday I worked in the deli. Tuesday I drove a cab in the rain. Wednesday the sitter wasn’t feeling well so I ended up staying with MEG and playing and chasing and cleaning up after. Today I drove cab again, and I will probably be in a cab tomorrow morning bright and early as well.

I sure hope you all will be able to join me tomorrow night on The “O” Word at 2200 MST. I may have to shift the timing of the show after this weekend (most of ya’ll get to save daylight – we have plenty here in Arizona, so we don’t) so that I stay smack between “CyberPastor and Annie B” and “Stanger 73” – provided my other activities don’t get bunched up in the process. We’ll see how it works out.

Hump Day

March 3rd, 2010 . by Cary

Good Bible study tonight – in the book of Proverbs, chapter 29. Ever notice how much time Proverbs goes over the difference between a foolish man and a wise man? Almost like the Word is saying “Beware of Fools!”

Worked in the deli today. Yesterday I went to the doctor’s office to discuss my outstanding numbers from my blood work. Guess who’s bad cholesterol is still too high? Guess who gets to cut back even further on processed sugar? That’s right, the same guy who works at a deli with one of the best bakers in the business, and who is married to a woman who makes killer cookies and brownies.

sigh

I’ll be driving a cab tomorrow, and watching MEG on Friday. Don’t know if I’ll be doing a show Friday night or not, since I may have to get a cab for the night shift. We’ll see.

Some Peace At Last

March 1st, 2010 . by Cary

So – things are settling back into “normal” around here. Went to work at the deli today. I’m planning on missing the HOA meeting tonight, even though I’m on the board, because I have two sick girls on my hands. The Tagalongs came in, two boxes=two single servings, right? I’ve got an invitation for tomorrow morning to discuss the numbers that came back from the blood test – “off the charts” means I’m outstanding in every way, right? I’m planning to have a show Friday night 2200 hours MST. My ear infection has gone away, but the ringing is getting louder. I think I’ll mention that at the discussion tomorrow. I’m not practicing on my bass nearly as often as I should, and certainly not as much as I want to, but these things happen. I will get it together and actually start improving soon. I’m getting used to the idea that Mom isn’t around any more, but there’s still a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I have forgotten something in connection to her passing. If you see something here (now that I’ve got the move finished) that is different or not quite the way it was before, let me know, and I will fix it. Or at least try to.

Is Monday Over Yet?

February 15th, 2010 . by Cary

(please note – the information below is subject to rapid changes for reasons that will soon be apparent – and it is, in fact, a change from the latest conversation with certain family members)

President’s Day – the Paper Plate was closed, but driving a cab was profitable today. In case you didn’t know, I’ve been driving during the day, and it’s mostly doctor runs and grocery calls, so no weirdos. Mostly. Except for the second to last run today, involving a couple of cross dressing show “girls” headed for work, it was a busy and boring day.

Until about noon, that is. The news started pouring in. TMBWitW’s cardiologist gave her a mostly clean bill of health – with the exception of a vitamin D deficiency, even her BP was in the normal range. My sister called. She Who Must Be Obeyed is, in the parlance of Hospice, actively dying. I had been planning on going to the Old Pueblo on Saturday; now it looks like I’ll be there Wednesday morning until … which means, of course, that anything I had on the platter for shows, trains, music, practice, whatever, is now on indefinite hold.

I’ll be off the grid for a while. Unless, of course, I can get access to an internet connection and I can remember my passwords. Please keep the family in your prayers and good thoughts.
