This, That, and Sunday

March 4th, 2007 . by Cary

I love my son-in-law, M. My youngest daughter, from the first marriage, married a wonderful, Godly young man last May. He is very loving, adores C with all his heart, and is musically talented.

I am a dufus. It was in March. March 10, to be exact. Happy Anniversary, guys. Sorry ’bout that…

He’s also artistically bent, as the two buttons in the left sidebar indicate. He just “whipped those together” while goofing around, he said, and I liked ’em so much I stuck them on the blog. Please, steal them and spread them around.

M and C are moving to Idaho next Sunday. We are trying to spend some time together before they leave, as TMBWitW and I don’t travel very often.

(I may go back to driving a truck, just so I can stop by and see them occasionally, but that means more time away from home…yuck)

I want to say “Hello!” to the family and friends who are peeking in over here – ya’ll are welcome to leave comments, that’s why I’ve left the Anonymous Comments available. Just do me a favor, and sign off in the comment so I know which one you are…

My blogfriend, Texas Fred, has admonished me for campaigning in his comments section. I apologized, and I do mean that, Fred. I understand your reasoning, and you are right, since I don’t have a budget, I don’t stand a real chance.

I would, however, like to ask all of you, my readers, to help me out a bit. Mention my name and website. To everyone, if you would, as a possible alternate candidate. Even if I don’t receive any write-in votes, I’ll have gained some exposure. My main goal is to get the Career Politicians to be aware of the fact that We the People are sick and tired of being the third or fourth thing thought of anytime they are in session. We should be first, along with the sovereign status of the United States of America. We shouldn’t have to fight for crumbs after most of the Career Politicians have finished pandering to their special interests, lined their pockets, and taken care of their favorite foreign country.

We should be first.

I would do that. I would hold America in the position of First and Foremost, with the needs of the Citizens and Legal Immigrants supporting America coming in right behind. I don’t have any special interests (except for model railroading, but that’s another story…) and I certainly don’t hold any other country in higher esteem than I do the Great Nation of the United States of America.

Weight loss update: Due to a glitch in my eating habits, I’m actually down to 219 this morning. That does not portend a loss; rather, it indicates that I didn’t eat much yesterday. Her highness, little miss MEG, was having issues with the bottles, and did not want to be set down. So, I spent a lovely morning holding her, and watching movies, while TMBWitW was at class. Greybeard over at Pitchpull dropped a nice comment in Friday‘s post regarding my good looks; we tossed some weight-loss stuff back and forth a bit. I’ve got to start working on better eating habits and exercising more (actually, any is more than what I’m doing now…).

That should do it for this edition of This, That, and Sundry.

(made you look!)

Oh, and no updates on the job situation yet. I have an interview with a custom shop on Monday; it sounds like a nice little shop to get involved with. Your prayers and thoughts are received with glad tidings.

Thank you for stopping by, God bless you all, Wear Red on Fridays, and write in Cary Cartter for President in 2008!

Driving me Crazy – IX

February 25th, 2007 . by Cary

Over the last couple of months, due to TMBWitW recovering from a C-section, and my lack of employment, I’ve been doing most of the driving – doctor’s appointments, visiting, church, shopping, you name it – and it has come to our attention that our car must have a big sign on it.

SPEED PAST US AND CUT IN FRONT OF OUR BUMPER

At least, we’re pretty sure that’s what it says, since a lot of the drivers around here seem to do that.

We were driving to the East Valley the other day (TMBWitW was going to visit her friend, Arizona Mills Mall, and I had an interview) and we were traveling along in the carpool lane. A pick-up truck, driver on the phone, missed our front bumper by about five inches. It would have been less, and probably an impact, if I hadn’t tapped my brakes when I saw him lurch towards us from the right. No turn signal, no glance in the mirror, not even a hiccup in his conversation, I’m guessing.

Oh, and Sonoran State plates on his truck.

Now, I’m sure that he was here on business, and he was leaving the area as soon as his business was complete. I’m sure that he doesn’t live here and leave his truck registered in a foreign nation because he’s only here for the cash. I’m sure that if he had moved here he would be registering his vehicle here within the ten days allowed by law.

I’m sure of that because my government assures me that most people coming from south of the border are here to stay, and will assimilate into our law-abiding community.

No, really, they will.

Except that I ran into him again. Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s the same truck – same model, same Sonoran plate, same flame job on the hood. He was getting out of his truck at Home Depot. I was there picking up trim pieces for the pulpit, and I saw him as I was leaving. It was pretty obvious that he was headed into Home Depot, besides being parked there – he had on an orange apron with the words “Home Depot” on it.

Yup, they’re here doing the jobs that us Americans won’t. I always thought the libs were referring to agricultural jobs. Turns out Americans don’t want to work in home improvement warehouses. Or in fast food places. Or at the corner drugstore. Or the movie rental stores. Or on construction crews.

And now Ted “I can’t go for help while my date is drowning” Kennedy is starting the whole amnesty debate again by introducing a more radical “path to citizenship” bull – I mean bill – with the hopes that a DemocratICK controlled Congress will pass it without a burp.

Stand By For Authorized Emotions

February 18th, 2007 . by Cary

This is not one, but two definitions of HERO in my book.

I found these courtesy of Akinoluna, an active-duty Marine. Her blog is on my roll, in the left side bar.

Ooh Rah.

Good Question! part 1

February 18th, 2007 . by Cary

Cube, down Florida way, dropped a comment over here, and mentioned that maybe another Carter in the White House would not be a good idea.

She did mention that I have another “T” in my name, and I’m not sure of the connection to the other Carter family line (personally, I always told my classmates that I wasn’t related…).

The problem actually goes beyond that. Conservative voters may not like the fact that (a) my last name reminds them of a certain peanut farmer that should have stayed in Georgia and (2) my first name sounds like I spent Christmas in the wrong country.

Wait – this could work out. Maybe the liberals will think “Hey, the best of both worlds!” in their mis-guided way.

I assure you, I will bring accountability back to it’s original meaning. I will bring Common Sense back to leadership. I will elevate “representative” back to the lofty goal of -gasp!- REPRESENTING the people who elected you, instead of representing the interest of the Career Politician’s wallet.

Criminals will be held responsible for their actions.

Employers will be held responsible for their actions.

Politicians will be held responsible for their actions.

Veterans will be held in the highest esteem, and get the funding they need. Oh, and be held responsible for their actions.

I can’t do it without your help.
