Wanted: Paying Position

June 25th, 2009 . by Cary

Really, I’m a pretty good guy. I’m married, we have a daughter, and I would much rather be supporting my family than keeping the home fires burning. I would prefer to let my wife do the fire tending and child raising. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with MEG, but my wife really deserves to be spending this time with her.

My qualifications are simple: I will work as hard as I know how to get the job accomplished. I’ve got a lot of life experiences; chances are I”ve done something in my past that has equipped me to deal with whatever task you have at hand. Except, maybe, welding – I never could get the hang of that. Mechanical work? Give me a wrench and a rag, I’m a happy guy. Woodworking? Please – lob a softball into my wheelhouse, why don’t ya? Sales? I suck, but I’ll still try to sell whatever you have that needs to be sold. Consulting? Hey, I’m a blogger – I would be more than happy to share my opinion with you about what you are trying to do. I even have the critical thinking skills needed to make sense of what you are doing before I give you an opinion about what to change or tweak – unlike a certain Poseur In Chief.

So – hire me already. Unless you like training new people every few weeks. See, I would be around for the long haul – I’ve got another fifteen, twenty years in this tank yet, and possibly longer – and plan to work as long as necessary in order to make sure my daughter gets the education and start in life that she will need to succeed.

Looks like the US will have to take it’s cue from a smaller country in regards to this whole “anthropogenic global warming” issue – Australia’s Senate is on the verge of rejecting that country’s version of the cap-and-trade system (they call it a “Scheme” – quite appropriately, I think) and most of the hesitation is due to a book that is out in Australia now and due out in the States in July. I owe a big thanks to the StarrettWire service (click to join!) for bringing this articleto my attention.

On another note – today marks the one hundred and thirty-third anniversary of the defeat of Custer at Little Big Horn, also known as the Great Northern Plains Live Target Practice of 1876.

With that, I return you to your normal surfing. Thank you for your attention.

So, Where Ya Been?

June 23rd, 2009 . by Cary

No, I didn’t really get abducted by aliens for my sexiness and good looks.

I have, however, been dealing with slight depression (still no prospects for a full-time J O B) and today I have the additional duty of taking Bradley back to Friends 4 Life.

Who is Bradley, you ask? He’s a very sweet, almost two year old retriever mix that gets along great with everybody, and really loves cats – especially with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.

Bradley Tug Of WarGood SitBradley Relaxes

That part about liking cats? Yeah – that’s the problem. Since we have five, it’s not fair to them to keep them cooped up in their room when they are accustomed to having free reign of the entire house. Cat training Bradley is beyond our means right now. We had started to kennel train him, but he is already housebroken and what was thought to be separation anxiety is more likely confinement anxiety. We know this because he chewed up the plastic tray liner that came with the kennel, folded the aluminum replacement tray like a piece of paper, and then chewed the bottom panel of the kennel apart to get out. Yes, he “tunneled” out of the crate. It was a good sturdy wire one, too – it managed to keep Sara contained as long as we were training her, and she’s no lightweight.

So, long story longer, Bradley is going back to the wonderful folks at Friends 4 Life so he can get an even better home next time around.

TMBWitW is really torn up about this – she managed to get very, very attached to this boy very quickly. I think she still misses Logan more than I imagined. Don’t get me wrong – I still miss Logan terribly, and have even called Bradley “Logan” a few times – but I am a Marine, and Marines don’t show emotion unless the Flag is involved.

We are going to go back to the plan of loving the furkids we have and keeping the numbers at about half of what they are now, eventually.

Well, it’s almost time to get loaded up. I’ll let you know how well it goes.

UPDATE: pretty darn smoothly. Bradley was just happy to be going for a car ride, and when he got to the shelter he jumped right out and figured Erika knew where he belonged. I’m gonna miss him.

Thursday Funny

Coupla things on this fine Thursday morning – first,

Alien Warning

Aliens are coming to Earth on FRIDAY and abducting all the good looking and sexy people.

Just wanted to givve you a heads up on why my blog will be inactive…

Second, a blonde joke from a fellow Deacon:

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.”

Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The blonde says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”

He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then -” he said with a deep sigh,

“- let’s put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.”

Round Up

June 4th, 2009 . by Cary

Sorry. I haven’t really felt all bloggy lately. Kinda depressed, really, being all human and forgetting that God already has everything taken care of. That, and we’re “fostering” a two-year-old retriever mix. To say he has a lot of energy would be like saying the Grand Canyon is a bit of a low spot.

I want to say this about the whole George Tiller thing – any church that accepts an ACTIVE abortionist as a member of it’s leadership (usher) is so far strayed from the Gospel of Jesus Christ that it cannot and should not declare itself to be Christian by any stretch of the imagination.

Have you noticed that the conservative bloggers have a much more varied list of subjects? Methinks that TEH ONE has managed to scatter our attention quite effectively, allowing him to slip the rest of the socialist camel into the tent.

Bushwack has found something that may finally put the fear of dying into the islamic fanatics that Obama says we aren’t at war with – Silver Bullet Gun Oil – made with 13% pig fat.

Over at An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings we get this quote, among other newsworthy items:

‘Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of sh!t.’

Very true.

Bill Smith, editor-in-chief of ARRA News Service asks why the current administration ordered the FBI to back off from an investigation into Black muslim Converts. Good question, Bill. I highly doubt we will get an answer from the prevaricator in chief.
