Unexpected Time Off

May 16th, 2006 . by Cary

The boss (my new boss, that lets me work at home) had a series of events yesterday that was a bit much, even for his stalwart Italian demeanor. So, he’s putting out fires and told me to take some vacation days.

Hmm. What to do with myself?

Let’s see – finish the baseboard, make a dump run, clean out the train room/office, call about landscape gravel, call about getting a wall extension built, dig holes for new trees, finish the bathroom remodel – nope, nothing to do here. I think I’ll go play PS2 for a while…

God bless you all, and be sure to thank President Bush for making it tougher to get any kind of wage increase!

Why do today what you can easily put off until tomorrow?

You can always get some border hoppers to do those jobs that you don’t want to do….

That would be all of them. But, want in one hand…

My philosophy is: “Yesterday is gone. So why should I be beholden to procrastinations of a day that is no more?”

Ooo! Good one! Can I use that?

I’m finishing up installtion of laminate floors in the house, and am in need of some custom base board… any interest? So Cal’s nice this time of year:)

I know it’s nice – I was stationed at Pendleton for a while. What kind of baseboard are you looking for? The stuff I’m putting in was milled at the place I used to work, out of cherry, and it’s got a nice clear finish on it. It’s about three inches high, and compliments the nuetral tone of the tile I laid through most of the house.

Aw, nothing that nice. I’m thinking of 1×3 or 1×4 clear fir that has 1/2″ cove on the top outside corner. We’ll prime it before I install it, then paint with the walls. I figured about 220 LF will do.

We’re not that far from Pendleton either. A little inland, north of Temecula and just east of Riverside.

If I can’t find it, I’ll buy a cove attachment for my Unisaw, and do it myself…

Cary – Sure you can use it. The statement might be original but I’m pretty sure the intentions behind it are not. Please note the comment I left about the yard sale on the other post. I’ll be watching the mail.

By the way. Either of you jokers want to come on over and show me how to lay down some linoleum? – I’ll buy Pizza.

Man, I’m covering up the linoleum in my house… 2 layers in some spots

Gawfer – check Lowe’s, or Home Depot; if you don’t have one of those sheck Goody’s, I know they used to carry something that was very similar. Lowes has it in stock for sure.

prying – where would this linoleum laying project be? Can I get there and back in time for supper?
