Relax, it’s Friday

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Still don’t feel like doing a show. I am, however, wearing the red “Incredibles” shirt my wife got me for Christmas a few years back.

The first time I wore it in public, a smart alec says to me, “Oh, so you think you’re Mr. Incredible?” My response? “No, but my wife does!”

You probably won’t notice, but I am on a new server, and have finally kicked the StartLogic habit. I will never, ever, suggest that anyone EVER use StartLogic’s hosting services. They are crap. I’m on Blue Host now, and breathing a much needed sigh of relief.

Chat ya later…

    Okay, I’ve got to ask…
Seems to me you’ve had more than your fair share of problems with technical glitches since you left easy-peezy “blogger”. Was it worth the trouble?

    Short answer? Yes.

First off, research your host service. I went with the recommendation of the domain registrar, and regretted it. StartLogic is CrapLogic. However, once I was on there, the issues outweighed the benefits, I had paid for two years up front and did not want to just leave the host with money left on the table. I am now in a position where I am sharing space on a host server, lowering the cost for all involved, so there is the economic factor. The other factor – a big one in my eyes – was the First Amendment factor. On blogger, you are and will be subject to being shut down if someone gets their big boy panties in a wad and wants to file a bunch of complaints about your site and it’s content. Here, I own the web site, the domain is in MY name, and if I want to go off about what the Bible says on a subject, then no one can complain to a big enough authority to get me shut down. I can slam the Cult of islam all day and no one can quote terms of service to me as they are blocking my site. Obama can pound sand, I am never giving him props unless he really and truly does something prop worthy; I am going to examine and slam his every move if I want and there is nothing anyone can do to shut me down short of shutting down the host. So, from a 1A standpoint, it is worth the $90 or so every two years now (two sites domain fees, and space on the shared server) to keep my freedom.

Once the latest glitches are ironed out (again, StartLogic treats backups weird, and you are never sure if you got a full and correct backup or not!) it should be smooth sailing for quite a while.

Yes, blogger is a lot more carefree, but I had the temerity to choose a template that didn’t get upgraded, which was the catalyst for getting off of there… TexasFred and his constant urgings to get off didn’t hurt, either!

    All good answers. Still…
I’m coming up on five years without the probs you have had since switching. I’m not saying the things you have mentioned won’t happen to me, but I’m sure glad I haven’t gone through what you’ve gone through…
