Birthday Red Friday

Happy Birthday to a few friends: Doug, my cousin Jackie, and John.

I’ll be out cabbin’ it today, and this evening I’ll be trying to finish getting the power booster out of the road rhino so I can put the new one in. Yes, it’s paid off, but dang if you don’t keep having to put money into it.

UPDATE: Just went in to wake TMBWitW up to take me to the cage (with the road rhino down, she would have to drive me there). She said “I had a dream that you said you weren’t going to drive a cab today” I said “I had a dream that I blew through my alarm and you said not to go in today.”

I’m going back to sleep for a little bit, and then resuming work on the road rhino.

Chat ya later…

I know that survival is the strongest of instincts.
I know that money is tight and I commend you for working several jobs to keep your head above water, your family housed and fed.
I know that driving a cab can be dangerous under the best of circumstances, and as can be surmised from what I’ve said above, these are not “the best of circumstances”.
Some folks are just naturally crazy.
Some folks are driven to it. As our times get tougher, more and more folks will get desperate. Some who are not so lucky as you and me will start looking at hungry kids or the possible foreclosure on their home, and might make your part-time job even more interesting.
I know you know all this already, but I worry a great deal about you my brother.
I’m praying one day soon I’ll read here that you no longer need that job.

    Amen.

My brother, I cannot tell you how much I envy your prayers for my safety, much as I constantly pray that you are safe and in God’s hands while piloting your bird, caring for others who are not having a good day.

I, too, pray that soon I will be able to trumpet my finding of a safe, solid, and financially comfortable position.

I do go in for a second interview tomorrow (4/24) at 1400 hours, MST, for a management position that falls within the above parameters. Thought you might like that little bit of good news…
